The Evolution of Machinery Health Monitoring

For decades, Bently Nevada has been synonymous with machinery protection — the company virtually invented the science of continuous vibration monitoring for rotating equipment. With System 1, Baker Hughes has taken that heritage and rebuilt it for the digital age: a software platform that transforms raw vibration, process, and operational data into actionable machinery health intelligence.

What Is System 1?

System 1 is Bently Nevada's next-generation condition monitoring and predictive diagnostics software. It serves as the central intelligence layer that aggregates data from Bently Nevada hardware (3500 Series, Orbit 60, portable analyzers) as well as third-party DCS and process systems via OPC-UA and other protocols.

Unlike traditional SCADA-style alarm-based monitoring, System 1 applies machine learning models trained on decades of rotating equipment data to continuously assess machine health, detect developing faults, and project remaining useful life — before a physical alert is ever triggered.

Key Capabilities

Real-Time Health Scoring

Continuous machine health index (0–100) derived from multi-parameter analysis, not just single-alarm thresholds.

AI-Powered Fault Detection

Pre-built and custom machine learning models detect bearing defects, unbalance, misalignment, oil whirl, rub, and more.

Digital Twin Integration

Physics-based and data-driven digital twin models enable what-if analysis and virtual commissioning without touching the physical asset.

Enterprise Connectivity

Integrates with SAP PM, IBM Maximo, OSIsoft PI, and Honeywell Uniformance for seamless workflow into your CMMS and historian.

Multi-Site Fleet View

Monitor entire fleets of similar machines across multiple plant sites from a single pane of glass — essential for rotating equipment benchmarking.

Mobile & Cloud Ready

Web-based interface accessible from tablets and smartphones — reliability engineers get alerts and health dashboards in the field.

How System 1 Fits Into the Cordant Ecosystem

System 1 is the on-premises and edge-deployed component of the broader Baker Hughes Cordant Asset Health Monitoring (AHM) platform. While System 1 handles real-time monitoring and local analytics, Cordant AHM extends the same intelligence to the cloud — enabling large-scale fleet analytics, AI model training, and benchmarking across global fleets.

For Egyptian Oil & Gas operators where cloud connectivity may be limited or restricted, System 1 deployed on-premises provides the full analytical capability without requiring data to leave the plant network.

Typical Applications in Egypt's Process Industry

Gas compressor health monitoring for offshore and onshore platforms

Centrifugal pump condition assessment for refinery critical service

Steam turbine and gas turbine continuous health surveillance

Motor-driven fan and blower monitoring in petrochemical units

Subsea pump condition monitoring via topside data aggregation
